THE CAPITAL AREA HUMANE SOCIETY 2008 FUR BALL

LANSING, MI – The Capital Area Humane Society (CAHS) is hosting a special pre-sale event for a limited number of tickets to the 2008 Fur Ball. 
Tickets are $100.00 per person and $50.00 per pampered pooch and will be on sale February 4-8, only at the new headquarters of Mercantile Bank in East Lansing.
Those who take advantage of the Pre-Sale are entered to win a night out on the town which includes: two tickets to the March 12 concert of the San Francisco Jazz Collective at Wharton Center, a $50 gift certificate for dinner at Gilbert & Blake’s and an overnight stay at the English Inn!  The winner of the night out on the town promotion will be drawn at the Capital Area Humane Society during their February 14th “Come Fall In Love” adoption event.

The Fur Ball is the Capital Area Humane Society’s premiere fund-raising gala; a black-tie event like no other in mid-Michigan. With a silent & live auction, dinner, dancing, the Ultimate Doggy Spa, a pampered pooch parade and more, this years Fur Ball will be held on Saturday, April 19 at Eagle Eye Golf Club.

TO HOLD FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP

JACKSON, MI – Baker College of Jackson will hold its 2008 Financial Aid Workshop on Saturday, February 9. Baker’s Financial Aid Workshop is designed to help area college-bound high school seniors and their parents understand and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2008-2009 academic year. The event is free of charge and open to all high school seniors, regardless of whether or not they have identified their college of choice.

The schedule for the Financial Aid Workshop at Baker College of Jackson is:

10 a.m.       Check-in and refreshments

10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Financial Aid Workshop

11 a.m. until noon    Individual financial aid assistance and campus tours

Financial aid officers will conduct the workshop, providing a profile and explanation of the various types of financial aid available to students. New financial aid forms will be distributed and step-by-step completion instruction will be provided. Admissions advisors will also be on hand to answer questions and offer information about Baker College of Jackson.

Helpful, but not required, documents to bring include: 2007 federal and state 1040 tax returns for parents and students (if possible); 2007 W-2 forms for parents and students; and 2007 Untaxed Income Amounts (e.g., FIA, SSI, child support, etc.).

The Financial Aid Workshop will be held on the Baker College of Jackson campus, 2800 Springport Rd., Jackson. Space is limited and reservations will be accepted through Monday, February 4.
