News Spotlight: Armed Robbery and Gunshots at an Apartment

On May 30 at 2:00 a.m. Officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of E. Michigan Ave on report of an armed robbery of a gasoline station. The store’s clerk reported that a male entered the store with what was believed to be a gun protruding from his shirt. The accused demanded money but became frustration when the store clerk provided him with such a low amount of money. The accused further took several cartons of cigarettes before leaving the store on foot. The victim was not injured during the robbery. Investigators are currently reviewing video surveillance footage.

 
Accused Description:
 
Male, 30-40s, goatee, 5’6” – 5’8” with a stocky build and wearing a white collared shirt with lines forming squares on it, light blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a red stocking cap with a white colored Old English “D” on it.

Patrol officers were in the area of the 3900 block of W Jolly Rd and reported hearing gun shots on May 28 at 12:54 p.m. Officers then contacted a vehicle seen leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was searched and the occupants were checked for warrants, no arrests were made and it is unclear if the driver and passenger were involved. Officers located 2 apartments and 2 vehicles that had sustained damage as a result of the shooting. Officers checked the interiors of both apartments noting that no one was injured.
