News Spotlight: Barricaded gunman surrenders to Ingham Sheriff’s Deputies

 Sunday, October 2, 2016, at approximately 4pm, Ingham County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 4800 block of Old Plank Rd in Onondaga Twp for a subj who had barricaded himself in a residence with a shotgun. 

The 42 year old man had a verbal altercation with his longtime girlfriend. She and her 15 year old daughter were able to leave the residence to a neighbors house and call 911. The man told the woman he was barricading himself in the home and to tell the police to shoot him. Shortly after Deputies arrived, the man exited the home with a loaded shotgun. Deputies established a dialogue with him and were eventually able to convince him to surrender the weapon. The man was taken into protective custody without incident for a mental health evaluation. The caller said she was not assaulted and no charges are being sought.



Sheriff’s officials said that it was a tense situation and are grateful for the outcome.
