During the month of April 2016, Ingham County is offering amnesty on Friend of the Court bench warrants. Amnesty applies to warrants from Failure to Appear, or Failure to Comply with a Court Order for non-payment of support.
The “Fresh Start” Amnesty program is an opportunity for Ingham County Friend of the Court to reach out to the community for child support payments which benefit the children. Payers get a “Fresh Start in 2016”, by recalling their Bench Warrant and providing incentive for them to remain in contact with our office, now and in the future. Each payer will receive a notice in the mail listing the amount of the arrears owed and bench warrant fees to be waived. To have the warrant recalled, payment of $250 or 1% of arrears, whichever is the greater amount must be paid. Example; a $30,000 arrearage requires a $300 payment.
** If the Amnesty payment is made by April 29, 2016, you will not be arrested and remaining Bench Warrant fees on this case will be waived **
**Warrants for Felony Non-Payment of Child Support, are NOT eligible for this program **
Cash payment may be made in person or through a personal representative with the FOC Cashier at 303 W. Kalamazoo Street in Lansing, Michigan. Walk-in payments MUST be made by 5 p.m. on April 29, 2016.
