News Spotlight: Homicide and Attempted Robbery in Lansing this weekend

 

 

Homocide
 
On  August 31, 2012 at 10:59 p.m. officers responded to the 3100 block of Turner Street on reports of a male that had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located a male lying on the ground and having trouble breathing. The male was covered in blood and found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Lansing Fire Department (LFD)  was immediately on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased on September 1, 2012 at 12:33 a.m. The victim’s family was notified early into the investigation. The victim’s name is Micah Arnold, 36 year old Lansing resident.
 
The Lansing Police Department Investigations Division is working this case and has identified a suspect in this shooting. However, the suspect is still outstanding and his name has not been released. Persons with information are requested to Crime Stoppers at (517) 483-STOP.


Attempt Armed Robbery
 
The Lansing Police Department responded to a convenience store on the 5100 block of N Grand River Avenue on  September 1, 2012 at 2:30 on reports of a robbery attempt. A witness reported that two males entered the store and one accused #1 pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the cashier while demanding money. A second accused#2 watched the front door of the business during the robbery attempt. However, the accused left without taking any money and no one was injured. LPD K-9 attempted a track and concluded that the subjects fled in a vehicle before police arrival.
 
Accused #1 male, late teen or early twenties wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes, and some sort of black material covering his face (perhaps a scarf or bandana). This accused was armed with a black semi-auto handgun. Accused #2 male, late teens wearing a green coat with tan colored stripes down the sides, blue jeans and black tennis shoes
