The Lansing Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presents a free mental health workshop for all, on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Hannah Community Center, 819 Abbot Road, East Lansing, Michigan. The workshop will focus on education and awareness of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, thoughts of suicide, bipolar disorder and many others.

Dr. Falyne Fry of the Counseling and Psychological Services Center at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Fry has spoken at numerous women’s conferences in the Midwest on topics such as Women’s Mental Health, Depression and Relationships, Anxiety, Mastering the Spirit of Fear and Spiritual Applications for Dealing with Mental Health Issues. Dr. Fry has an earnest desire is to provide hope to the hopeless, help to those suffering with various forms of mental illness and encouragement to those seeking growth in the areas of mental and spiritual development.
Dr. Fry is a native of Lansing. After graduating from J.W. Sexton High School, she completed her undergraduate degree in biopsychology at the University of Michigan and then obtained her medical degree from Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. Dr. Fry completed Adult Psychiatry Residency Training at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center. During her residency she also completed a one year fellowship training program at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute in Farmington Hills. Dr. Fry is currently employed at the Counseling and Psychological Services Center at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she provides psychiatric services for the undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at the University. She also has a private practice in Birmingham, Michigan.
The Lansing Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was chartered in 1960 as a sisterhood to support the Greater Lansing community through scholarship and service. The programs hosted by the sorority are centered on the organization’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust.
