News Spotlight – Pattengill Shooting Investigation- UPDATE

On Friday, November 3, 2017 at approximately 4:33 p.m. the Ingham County 9-1-1 Center received several calls regarding a possible shooting that had just occurred at Pattengill Academy (626 Marshall Ave). When officers from the Lansing Police Department (LPD) arrived on scene they received information from witnesses that a black SUV vehicle was seen leaving the scene after the shooting.

 
While officers were on scene the Ingham Co. 9-1-1 Center received information that a shooting victim had been dropped off at local hospital in a black SUV. The shooting victim is a 15 year old female, Lansing resident who was not a student at Pattengill Academy. The victim sustained a non-life threating gunshot wound and is listed in stable condition.
 
The initial investigation has determined that the shooting victim was a backseat passenger in the vehicle that was occupied by her parents and a 21 year old male subject. The vehicle was parked in the north parking lot of the school when a firearm was discharged from inside the vehicle, striking the victim. After the shooting the vehicle fled the school parking lot and has since been located and secured by LPD.
 
Investigators from LPD and Michigan State Police (MSP) continue to gather information and interview witnesses to determine the cause of the shooting.
 
Pattengill Academy and Lansing Catholic High School were placed in lock-down for approximately one-hour while officers secured the scene safely. Students and parents were reunited with the assistance of the Lansing School District Staff.
 
LPD is currently trying to locate a person of interest, Kahlil Jamal Withers-Fleming, B/M , 21 years old , Lansing resident. Anyone with information in regards to the whereabouts of Mr. Withers-Fleming or information related to this crime, is encouraged to call:
