At approximately 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19th, Lansing police were dispatched to the area of Sandlyn and Woodlyn on a possible man shot lying in the roadway.
Upon officer arrival, a 25 year old Lansing man was located in the roadway in the 4900 block of Woodlyn with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest.
Police investigation discovered the victim and the suspect are acquaintance. Prior to the shooting, both were riding around together in the victim’s car. At some point the suspect shot the victim and left with the victim’s car…… leaving the victim in the area of Woodlyn and Sandlyn.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition. A description of the victim’s car and the suspect information was broadcasted to assisting officers and agencies.
Within a short period an Ingham County sheriff deputy located the car and suspect, Michael Gordon Raymond, 30 year old Lansing man. The sheriff deputy stopped the vehicle in the area of S. Onondaga near Columbia. The suspect was located in the vehicle and arrested without incident. He was transported to the Lansing Police Detention facility.
Lansing Detectives continue to investigate what the motive of the suspect was and will be ultimately submitting detailed reports with regard to this crime to the Ingham County Prosecutor office. He was arraigned in 54-A District court in front of Judge Clarke on the following charges:
Count 1: Assault with intent to Murder (Felony)
Count 2: Carjacking (felony)
Count 3: Assault with intent to rob while armed (Felony)
Count 4: Weapons – Felony Firearm (Felony)
Count 5: Possession of firearm by Felon (Felony)
