News Spotlight: Teen Shot and Alcohol Found at Party

On Monday, December 31, 2012 at approximately 12:00 AM (Midnight)  Lansing Police Department officers were dispatched to the 800 block of W. Miller (formally Auggie’s Bar) in regards to a large party with shots fired.

Upon arrival officers observed approximately 100 teenagers coming and going from the building. While on scene officers were advised a shooting victim arrived at a local hospital.

Officers located an adult who rented the building for a party. Alcoholic beverages were located within the building. Criminal charges are being sought toward the adult who rented the building.

The shooting victim (a 19 year old Lansing man) was interviewed and is being treated with a non-life threatening injury to his hip area. Officers learned that the shooting took place near the South entrance of the building (800 W. Miller). Officers located several shell casings near this area. The shooting victim was not able to provide many details.

No other injuries were reported or discovered.

The Lansing Police Department is asking for witness help in regards to this shooting. Based on the large amount individuals in attendance, they believes there may be witnesses that could help the investigation.
