Felicia Turrentine Wasson is the Associate State Director for Government Affairs for AARP in Michigan.  Previous to this appointment she served as Director of Public Policy for St. John Health/Michigan Health Ministries of Ascension Health.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Public Administration Degree from Western Michigan University.  Immediately following her graduation from Michigan State University, Felicia began her professional career as Office Operations Manager with former State Senator and Senate Democratic Floor Leader Virgil Clark Smith of Detroit.  During her tenure with the Senator she served as Floor Assistant and finally, Chief of Staff.

Following her career with the Michigan Senate, she began her first stint at AARP as a Community Organizer.  She happily returned to AARP in January 2008.  She is a graduate of Lansing Catholic Central High School and a native of Minneapolis, MN.  She serves her community as a member of the Greater Lansing Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, the Lansing/East Lansing Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and the Lansing Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, the Greater Lansing Commission on Race and Diversity and is a Board Member of the Black Child and Family Institute.

She was named one of the “Best, Brightest and Most Beautiful” in 2006 by Lansing’s New Citizen’s Press Newspaper.  She is the proud mother of three boys, 19 year old Joshua, (a freshman at Eastern Michigan University), 13 year old Isaiah and 8 year old Evan.
