[Mo:] Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mo and I’m a choc-a-holic.
[Jo:] Hi Mo! Well, now that we are confessing, I must admit that I have a sweet tooth and I love chocolate too. I’ve been called the “candy man,” because I keep some form of candy in my bag!
[Mo:] This may explain why we chose to live where we live in Austin. We are within walking distance to one of the most famous places that serve sugary delights. Hey Cupcake!
[Jo:] “Hey” back at’cha! That’s so sweet!
[Mo:] One night my “cupcake” and I were foraging through the fridge and cabinets for something sweet and we couldn’t find anything.
[Jo:] As my frustration increased, it hit me like a ton of Oreos. Hey Cupcake was within walking distance of our home. I checked the Internet and saw that they stayed open until 11pm. We were in business. So within a few minutes, we were in front of their trailer placing our order.
[Mo:] We probably need to mention that Hey Cupcake is a mobile cupcake bakery so they are stationed in a parking lot among other mobile eateries. If you’re lucky, you’ll hear one of their DJs spinning or a musician playing for the patrons.
[Jo:] Now we realize that this is an unorthodox review but this cupcake place deserves a write-up of its own because the mini-cakes were so great! First, let’s talk about their size. They were huge! About the size of my fist. Next, the quality. They were made with no shortening. All butter baby!
[Mo:] Between us, we sampled four of their cupcakes: The Standard was a vanilla cake topped with chocolate butter cream. Very nice. The Double Dose was The Standard but with a chocolate cake. Even nicer (did I mention that I’m a choc-a-holic?). The 24 Carrot was a carrot cake with real cream cheese topping. Delicioso! The Red Velvet was down-home red velvet cake with a cream cheese topping. I’m swooning!
[Jo:] These cupcakes were rich, moist, and so delicious; we were humming while eating them. They can be a little messy to eat but definitely worth it. Although there was a lot of icing they weren’t too sweet, you know, to the point that we couldn’t eat them. Within minutes of finishing, I’m sure that my body began going through withdrawal.
[Mo:] You know it’s bad when we frequently check the menu for their upcoming specials. This month, Hey Cupcake is featuring the “Pumpkinator” which is a pumpkin spice cake with a graham cracker cream cheese top. Hey cupcake! What are you doing this weekend?
[Jo:] Definitely going with you to get some more cupcakes. Our quote for the week came from our very own “Mo”. I typically ask her to name the pros and cons of the places where we eat. In reference to Hey Cupcake, she said “Pro. Within walking distance. Con. Within walking distance.” We may have to move.
