News Spotlight: Free Day at Potter Park Zoo for Ingham County Residents

Potter Park Zoo will hold its annual county free day this Saturday, October 1. Parking and admission into the zoo will be free for Ingham County and City of Lansing residents. General admission rates apply for non-Ingham County residents.

This past summer was packed with entertaining music festivals. Those willing to make the trek to Detroit, MI enjoyed the “true extravaganza”, with “Sing the Truth” featuring Angelique Kidjo, Dianne Reeves and Lizz Wright honoring the legacies of Miriam Makeba, Abbey Lincoln and Odetta. “Sing the Truth” – a special production that honors great women in jazz, folk, R&B, gospel and the blues, is making just three appearances in North America, and only one of those performances, the one in Detroit, was free.

The Second Amendment does not guarantee that every citizen can carry a gun – this Amendment was written in the 1791, which is 220 years ago, when war weary American’s were afraid of the British, French, Canadians, Germans, Native Americans. At that time, there was no United States Army, no organized militias, no state police and no local police. You had to protect your family and home by yourself, by any means necessary, it was a dangerous time.
