Kirabo is a Ugandian word for “gift”. Since we are a gift shop, that sells exclusively fair trade merchandise from developing countries, we selected the name to be both appropriate and worldly.

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 21, 2009 and I wanted to wish my husband, Frank, and all the fathers to please have a happy day.
“Lansing sucks.” I have heard that for years about the Lansing area and I believed it. People would talk about how there is nothing to do. I began to realize that I just was not looking in the right places. Within the last few years there has been a surge of various forms of entertainment. I know, I know, we are a long way from being a great Mecca such as Los Angeles, New York City or Atlanta but I am one that definitely appreciates what Lansing has to offer for little cost. The beauty of being in a small city with big city attributes is cheaper cost of living, ease of travel, convenience and opportunity.
There’s nothing more tedious during the summer months than being subjected to reruns of “CSI,” “Law and Order,” NCIS etc… However, the television fairy has blessed us boob-tube junkies with a second season of quirky doctors and nurses and sci-fi adventures just to mention a few new characters expected to get us through the hot summer months.
