EAST LANSING, MI— On Saturday, Jan. 18. at approximately 1:30 a.m. the East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) was dispatched to an assault that had occurred in the 300 block of East Grand River Avenue.
The victim of the assault was identified as Caleb Alan Shermoe, a 20-year-old from Fowlerville. He was transported to Sparrow Hospital by the East Lansing Fire Department where he succumbed to his injuries.
ELPD has been working on this case since the initial call. Through extensive investigation, the ELPD detective bureau was able to locate a suspect, identify that suspect and gather a statement.
ELPD will be seeking charges on that suspect through the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office. If and when charges are issued, the ELPD will release that suspect’s name.
