The things in the news these days bother me. No longer are people watching for alerts about the century’s first genocide, events that could lead to nuclear war, or assignations of political leaders.
No, the news that tops all of that is happening right here, in America. There are rich people doing stupid things. Why would I want to know about anything else? I mean, Jamie-Lynn Spears pregnant at sixteen, Paris Hilton receiving only 5 million dollars from her grandfather because he gave 97% of his wealth to charity, and “almost” risqué photos of Lindsay Lohan. Who wouldn’t want to see her tummy. I mean what is wrong with me wanting actually news while there are things like stars getting plastic surgery and rumors polluting the airways.
I am 15, politically aware, and not a so-called “bimbo-ologist” so when I want news, I mean news. But these things are so ingrained in culture that even I could rattle off certain things that no one should know at the drop of dime.
I want things in the news to move me. I want to see issues that make me want to protest, sign petitions and start movements. I want the airwaves and the media back.
Do you want antics of rich, unintelligent, and uncaring girls to be what’s remembered in America for our generation? Will we ever move to name our generation?
Or do you want to make history, demand the airwaves back before they run out of things to waste our time with and they have to start reporting real news and the “bimbo-ologists” have to find real jobs.
