U & I Model and Talent Management will be holding an event on November 17, introducing the company to the city of Lansing and its surrounding areas and welcoming all area aspiring talents and entertainers through its headquarter doors (located at 3132 S. Pennsylvania in Lansing, MI).
From 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. talents of all types – children, adults, models, singers, actors, comedians, what-have-you – will be presented with necessary information from company owners Sherly Ellis and Nadia Sellers, and their staff, providing opportunity for all to take first steps to broadening their skill and exposure through U & I services.
“We hope to pull in people from all walks of life – sizes, shapes, ages, and cultures,” says Sellers. “As a model and talent agency we recognize this industry is not just about beauty anymore. Everyone is welcome. We all have talents within us.”
“Those who come out will learn what we’re all about,” Ellis adds. “We are not a school; we are an agency. And we will be registering and taking applications from individuals who are interested in being a part of our agency. We are going to provide avenues for them to fulfill their dreams.”
Those who attend will learn about upcoming U & I-hosted workshops and seminars centered on film and still photo conduct, thespian coaching, visual poise, posture and presentation, etiquette, and personal hygiene.
Individuals who attend will also learn the requirements to join U & I. A down payment is not one of them. “When you sign up with any agency there is no charge,” Ellis says. “One of the biggest questions is how much is it to join. There is no charge. As management the agency does get a percentage from work they have provided for you.” U & I will also provide web-based promotion through their online location.
U & I opened its doors for the first time September 15, 2007. Having an agency of their own was a longtime goal of Sellers and Ellis. And both felt the Lansing area needed the services they could provide. “Between the two of us we have about 60 – 65 years of experience in the entertainment industry,” Ellis says. “Myself: I am a modeling instructor, have taught for about 30 to 35 years. I’ve done all types of work from TV commercials to print work, industrial training for films. Between the two of us we’ve done a gamut of things in this industry. With our expertise we decided to come together and form U & I Model and Talent Management.”
