On Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Lansing Police Department responded to the intersection of Herbert and Wilson St., to meet with City of Lansing Public Service Department. Public Service workers advised they had made a discovery of a body within the city’s sewer system during routine maintenance checks.
LPD worked in conjunction with The Lansing Fire Department (LFD) Confined Space Rescue Team to recover the body.
Investigators from the Michigan State Police, Lansing Police Crime Scene Investigations and the Ingham County Medical Examiner’s office assisted with on scene investigations and recovery of evidence. The body was transported to a local hospital for autopsy and forensic analysis.

Update:
Danny Lee Tamez (33 years old) was recently reported as a Missing Person out of Lansing, MI. No cause of death has been determined at this time. Continued analysis regarding the cause of death is being performed and results will be made available when complete.
