On Saturday, August 23, 2025, around 4:30 a.m., members of the Lansing Police Department were dispatched to the 300 block of W Oakland Avenue for reports of a single-vehicle crash.
The crash involved five people. A 21-year-old and a 20-year-old died as a result of the collision. A 23-year-old and a 33-year-old are hospitalized in stable condition, and a 29-year-old remains in critical condition.
Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle struck a utility pole. Alcohol and speed appear to be contributing factors.
Accident investigators continue to gather facts related to the events and other factors leading up to the incident.
The victims have been identified as: Cheniya Rogers (20 years old) and Nathan Pentecost Jr (21 years old).
