We Remember: Angelia Renee Anthony – August 15, 1969 – Februay 23, 2025

Angelia “Renee” Anthony went from labor to reward on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the University of Michigan Health – Sparrow in Lansing, Michigan. Age 55 years. She was born on Friday, August 15, 1969, in Choctaw, Alabama, to Clemmentine Covington and James Anthony. 

Angelia later moved to Lansing, Michigan in 1975 with her mother, seeking a life filled with greater opportunities. She attended Lansing Easton High School, and after graduation, she pursued a healthcare career, dedicating over 30 years of her life to providing exceptional care and service. Throughout her career, she received numerous certificates, awards, and accolades in recognition of her outstanding work, commitment, and compassion in the medical field. 

Angelia’s love for her son Delkisse, who had special needs care, led her to want to start a support group with individuals who had matters such as her son, which later led her to become the founder of Stop Child Abuse, which is a licensed organization focusing on raising awareness and working to stop child abuse, her dedication to both her family and community was unmatched. 

Angelia was a longtime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, under the leadership of Prophet Paul W. Garrett. Afterwards, she became a member of All Nations Christian Church in Lansing. Later, Mind Body and Soul Ministries Outreach Center under the leadership of Bishop Nathaniel Thomas, during her membership, she served as usher, certified Deaconess, choir member, praise team member, and worked tirelessly organizing the Knights of Valor, which she was passionate about and truly enjoyed. She also devoted herself as an armored bearer to the pastor and his wife. Angelia’s faith and devotion were integral parts of her life, as she remained a devout believer and servant of God. 

Angelia was a family-oriented woman with a heart of gold. She was a glue that held her family together, and was always ready to lend a helping hand, offering love, guidance, and support. She helped raise her youngest brother, Quan, and was always there for her loved ones, especially in times of need. Angelia, generosity knew no bounds, as she would often open her home to those in need, ensuring that everyone felt loved and welcomed, known for her unique personality. Angelia was a true one-of-a-kind soul. She had an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up any room. She cherished her grandchildren with her whole heart and took great joy in spending time with them. Angelia was also known for her love of shopping, bowling, and being a member of her church bowling league. As a self-proclaimed fashionista. She always took pride in looking her best. 

Angelia will be cherished and remembered forever. Her legacy of love, generosity, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. 

Angelia leaves behind her beloved children, Zikera Shonta Anthony of Lansing, Michigan, Nakeda Renee Johnson “Nuke” of Holt, Michigan, and Delkisse Anthony of Lansing, Michigan; cherished grandchildren: Te’Ashia Smith, Tayvon Butler, Delkilye Johnson, Na’Keliya Johnson, Hezeki Anthony, Za’Kiah Williams, and Zy’Anna Glynn, who are all from Lansing, Michigan, as well as her great-grandchildren Da’Karre and Dior Scott.  Her siblings: Areatha and Mattie Anthony, both from Alabama, William Anthony “Drupps” and Andrel “Quan” (Vicky) Anthony, both from Lansing, Michigan.  

Angelia was preceded in death by her son, Wallace Anthony; mother, Clemmiteen Covington; father, James Anthony;  grandmother, Annie Pearl Covington; brother, Timothy Covington; aunt Jeanett Bush (Aunt Jean), and uncles, Wallace Bush and Carnel Bush.
