Starr Summerville transitioned from this life on Friday, November 29, 2024, in Lansing, Michigan at the age of 48 years old. She was born on Sunday, January 4, 1976, in Lansing, Michigan to Jacquelyn Summerville and Bruce Hicks.
Starr attended Lansing Public Schools and graduated from J. W. Sexton High School. She then went on to earn a healthcare degree from Lansing Community College and began her career in the healthcare field and pursued her passion for helping others.
Starr enjoyed many things, but her favorite was being a mom, grandmother—aka “Gigi”, daughter and sister. She was filled with so much joy and love. She had the most beautiful smile that will be remembered always.
Starr leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Willie Jones; daughters, Miracle Jones, Destiny Jones, and Coressa Jones; son, Willie Jones, Jr. all of Lansing, Michigan; granddaughter, Jai’yuana Smith; parents, Jacquelyn Summerville and Bruce Hicks; brother, Jamel Summerville; aunts, Lois Summerville, Evelyn Dungey, and Brenda Mills; uncle, Michael Martin,; nieces, Jazmin Wray, Katrina Lauderdale, Kyla Lauderdale, and Ja’el Summerville; nephews, Robert Wray, Jr. and Jamel Summerville, Jr.; many cousins, including her special cousins, Maurice Summerville and Crystal Stephens whom she grew up with and was very close to and many other relatives and friends including lifelong friend, Larisha Taylor.
Starr was preceded in death by her grandmother, Coressa Summerville; grandfather, Henry Ryan; Grandpa “Bo”; brothers, Robert Wray and James Lauderdale III; aunt, Rose Summerville; uncles, Joe Summerville and Raymond Summerville.
