William Brewer II Advances the Credit Union Spirit Through Service and Volunteerism

The Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF) presented William Brewer II the Board Chairperson of CASE Credit Union with the Credit Union Community Volunteer Award.  This award recognizes leadership in financial education and community outreach. This reward from MCUF was to reward an individual who both exemplify the credit union spirit of supporting community and “people helping people.”
As a member and current chairperson of the CASE Credit Union board of directors, Brewer has come to understand the importance of serving his community and advancing the credit union vision. Brewer works tirelessly to support CASE and the industry as a whole by advocating for state and national grassroots efforts, and contributing to political action committees that champion the credit union cause. He understands the principle of putting people first, which lies at the heart of the credit union mission.
Brewer is CEO of Global Business Resource Group, Inc. a consulting firm that specializes in the development of human capital and organizational development with an emphasis on executive recruitment, training and development, strategic planning and a wide variety of consulting services. We have a proven record of providing quality services in a cost effective and timely manner. Global BRG has a diverse client list, which spans many business sectors and range from the large fortune 100 companies to the small family owned businesses.

“I believe this award symbolizes to me a life well lived. Martin Luther King Jr. had a quote, ‘Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve.’ Being of service is my way of saying thank you to the world,” said Brewer.
In addition to his work with CASE, Brewer devotes time to other Lansing organizations, such as the Lansing Regional Sister Cities Commission, the Workforce Development Board for Capital Area Michigan Works!, the Kappa Alpha Psi and Sigma Pi Phi fraternities, and more. His work in the Lansing community demonstrates how the credit union impact can extend far beyond financial wellness.
Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) also received the Award for Excellence in Consumer Education.
Both MSUFCU and Brewer are excellent examples of how community building and credit unions go hand in hand. Whether it is through top-notch financial education, board leadership or diverse community engagement, MSUFCU and Brewer lead the way in keeping “people helping people” top of mind.
Brewer was formally awarded at the Honors Awards Breakfast during the MCUL/CUSG 2018 Annual Convention & Exposition in Traverse City held June 7-9th, 2018.
