NEWSTREAM — Wolverine® Boots and Shoes, a division of Wolverine World Wide Inc. (NYSE: WWW), has been recognized for having the best work footwear for the third consecutive year and was recently presented the Plus Award for overall design excellence.
The 2001 Plus Awards are sponsored by Footwear Plus, a leading industry trade magazine, and W.L. Gore & Associates, makers of GORE-TEX® waterproof fabrics. The honors were awarded during a ceremony held in conjunction with the World Shoe Association show in Las Vegas.
“We’re pleased that retailers have again chosen Wolverine Boots and Shoes as the leader in work footwear,” said Ted Gedra, executive vice president of the Wolverine Footwear Group. “Wolverine is committed to developing new technology to keep feet comfortable – whatever the job. Simply stated, Wolverine boots don’t quit.”
Wolverine Boots and Shoes launched Wolverine Compressor(TM) with DuraShocks® Comfort Technology during the second half of 2001. The system’s patented compression chambers in the heel and forefront of the insole work with Wolverine DuraShocks technology to absorb 50 percent more shock and return 30 percent more energy than competitive work boots.
Work boots featuring the Wolverine Compressor comfort system are now available at retailers nationwide and additional styles will be offered later this year. Wolverine also manufacturers work footwear with features that include electrical hazard protection, Wolverine SEMC® (Structurally Engineered Moldable Composite) safety-toe protection and slip-resistant soles.
