EAST LANSING, MI – Join WKAR staff for the station’s annual WKAR
Evening at Kresge Art Museum for an exclusive showing of the museum’s
winter 2011 Masterwork Exhibition, “The Best of Friends: The Friends of
Kresge Art Museum.” The event takes place Thursday, February 10, from
6-8 p.m., with a gallery talk at 6:30 p.m.
All station members, viewers and listeners are encouraged to attend.
WKAR staff who will greet guests include general manager DeAnne
Hamilton, content and community engagement manager Susi Elkins, All
Things Considered host Mark Bashore, 90.5 Classical host Jody Knol,
Diane Hutchens and Jeanie Croope.
The museum is located at 127 Kresge Art Center on the MSU campus. Light refreshments will be served. Reservations are not required.
The exhibit showcases one of the most important legacies of the Friends
of Kresge Art Museum: How they have supported the museum’s collecting initiatives and conservation projects.
“The Best of Friends” exhibit presents for the first time “Friends”
acquisitions from 35 years in one place. These items range from third
century BC to 2008, span cultrues from three continents and present a
variety of media.
Jacon van Loo, Paolo di Giovanni Fei, Joel Meyrowitz, Karel Appel,
Jasper Johns and Mason artist John Felsing are just a few of the artists
showcased in the exhibit.
