Last month, SUBWAY restaurants in Lansing, Jackson and Hillsdale collected more than 13,000 pounds of canned good and other non perishable food items during a one-day “Feed a Friend” food drive event. All donated food items benefited the Greater Lansing Food Bank, Mid-Michigan Food Band and their network of food pantries and shelters throughout central Michigan. This donation resulted in a 13 percent increase in donations for local food pantries and shelters in the month of March.
To celebrate the success of the “Feed a Friend” food drive, SUBWAY invited a group of engineering students from Michigan State University to build a structure out of the canned goods. The students constructed a 6.5-foot Spartan “S,” which were on display [insert timing] before being donated to the local food bank.
