Excuse Me are you listening? 4-26

<div>&#160; &#160; &#160;</div> <div>&#160;&#160;</div> <div>One strange dream</div> <div>&#160;</div> <div>&#160; &#160; This dream started out with my husband sleeping and I was sleeping facing his back. &#160;I saw something on his head. It was a lizard of some sort. &#160;I couldn’t believe that in my dream, I was going back and forth with a conversation with myself, “Is a salamander or a gyco, or a chameleon?” &#160;As soon as I thought a chameleon it began to slither away.</div> <div>&#160; In my dream I woke my husband up to tell him that there was a chameleon in the bed. &#160;I remember when I was a child and would visit my &#160;grandmother in the Caribbean (St. Maarten), she would always tell us to check under the sheets for lizards. At the time, I didn’t know what kinds of lizards there were.</div> <div>&#160;Or it could be that I watched a gyco commercial before I went to bed. &#160;That talking gecko really bothers me.</div> <div>&#160;</div> <div>Before the dream</div> <div>&#160;</div> <div>&#160; &#160; The night of this dream, I listened to a good band at a local barbefore I went to sleep. &#160;The bongo player was extremely intense. &#160;I truly felt as though I was experiencing the rhythm through him.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; Then I came home and decided to cook gumbo with okra. Usually, I don’t eat okra but my mother came to town recently for a visit (which turned into a surprise birthday party for me that I’ll explain more about &#160;in an upcoming edition.) and that made me have a taste for gumbo.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; My mother makes calaloo a Caribbean dish that consists of pureed spinach and okra. &#160;Bill Cosby spoke about calaloo all the time on the “Cosby Show”. &#160;It does not look like much but it tastes really good. &#160;I love it.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160;At midnight, I was up cooking a gumbo and talking to my mother on the phone like it was 3:00 in the afternoon.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; I spoke with her long enough to make some Basmati rice and to make sure that my okra was just tender. &#160;I added the shrimp and cubed chicken breast along with a packet of Sazon and I was ready to go.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; I would like to add that my mother was so impressed by my &#160;gumbo that she started to make one too. &#160;She used fish instead of shrimp though.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; I hurried her off of the phone as I watched my tomato-based gumbo boil. &#160;I suddenly remembered that I had diced tomatoes from my garden in the freezer and threw them in.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; I could hardly think about much, as I felt my eyes closing from the overwhelming affect of sleep depravation.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160;I dozed off just long enough to realize that my food should be ready.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; I spooned &#160;my piping hot rice on the plate and added the gumbo and for at least ten minutes my brain was quiet as my taste buds took over.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; And then I did what my mother told me to never do; I went to sleep on a full stomach.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; So I wonder if that had anything to do with this dream. &#160;</div> <div>&#160;</div> <div>Back to the dream&#160;</div> <div>&#160;</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160;So after I woke my husband up (in the dream), he sat up in the bed holding a huge rabbit. &#160;The kind of rabbits that are on the Teletubbies. &#160;I was amused for a minute until the rabbit asked for a donut. &#160;More specifically he asked for a Krispy Kreme donut.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160;In my husband’s hands magically appeared a glazed donut. &#160;It was one of those Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory donuts because the more the rabbit ate the donut the more it grew.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; The rabbit was enjoying the donut, my husband was totally oblivious to the other creatures that had joined me in watching them. &#160;</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; Two chipmunks and a couple of deer.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160;The room started to turn into a forest and I thought this is outrageous. &#160;But the best was yet to come….</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; The rabbit asked my husband to help him get the donut that was stuck on the roof of his mouth because his paws were too big.</div> <div>&#160; &#160; &#160; &#160; Then I woke up. &#160;</div> <div>&#160;</div> <div>&#160; &#160; The moral of this story is don’t watch too much television, listen to good live music, talk to family members, cook and eat gumbo right before you go to bed, because you may have weird dreams.&#160;</div> <div>&#160;</div> <div>SIncerely,</div> <div>&#160;</div> <div>&#160;</div> <div>RIna N. Risper</div> <div>&#160;</div>
