LANSING, MI — Brian Jackson is running for the Ingham County Prosecuting Attorney’s seat. Jackson attended Indiana State University and earned his B.A. in Political Science and M.A. in Criminology – the study of criminal behavior.
Brian graduated from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. At Howard, Jackson concentrated on criminal law and learned about social justice. As an attorney, Jackson worked in the Eaton Co. Prosecutor’s office and as a Lansing Assistant City Attorney. Now, he owns his own firm, Jackson Law PLLC, and primarily handles criminal law cases.
Jackson is active in his community. He conducts presentations at area schools to teach students how to respectfully assert their constitutional rights during contact with public safety. He is also a volunteer advocate for area students facing school suspension or expulsion.
As a member of the Shabazz Academy School Board of Ed., and as an assistant football and track coach at Sexton H.S., Jackson exemplifies teamwork, leadership and adaptability.
“After pursuing higher education in other parts of the country, I returned home to Ingham County because I believe I can make a difference in the community.
The Prosecutor has the most influence on the system and should be someone who is fair and balanced. I think the community is ready for change and deserve a fresh start. My work experience, education and life experiences have prepared me for this opportunity. I understand the serious implications that criminal convictions have on a person. As Prosecutor, I will use prosecutorial discretion and carefully determine which cases should be brought to Court. I am ready to serve, keep families safe, and move our community forward,” said Jackson.
Submitted by the Committee to Elect Brian Jackson.
