Ingham County Sheriff’s Office seizes guns while assisting CPS

 Deputies responded to the home to check the welfare of a student from the Leslie School District, the student attends the same school where a threat of violence was reported late last week.

LESLIE, MI — Friday, June 1st the Ingham County Sheriff's Office was asked by Child Protective Services to assist in a welfare check at a home in Bunkerhill Township. Deputies responded to the home to check the welfare of a student from the Leslie School District, the student attends the same school where a threat of violence was reported late last week. The child was not at the home at the time.

 
Deputies seized a total of five firearms, including two stolen handguns and another that had its serial number filed off. The home owner, 37 yr old Kevin Wells, was arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and felon in possession of a firearm. His bond was set at $11,000.00 and his next court date is June 14th, 2018 in front of Judge Allen at the 55th District Court.
 
The Sheriff's Office has notified the Leslie Police Department and the Leslie School District with the findings of this investigation in the event it would assist them in their own investigations.
