Dear Readers,It is a very interesting time. I become very concerned when people say, “They are taking the Christ out of Christmas”. Who is “they”? When I see statements like that and how many people believe that I am kind of confused. Who is waging this new world religious psychological warfare? No one can take the Christ out of my Christmas. How does one believe that “they” are in control of what “you” believe? Sounds, tricky to me. When I see Christians being mean about it and using aggressive language, in my humble opinion, those types of statements do nothing for peace, joy and happiness on earth. Behaving badly over saying “Happy Holidays” is not very Christ-like. We live in an amazing world with so many different people and we should embrace who we are and respect who they are.

When I told my best friend about the relationship, she freaked out and didn’t hold back her disapproval about man that I was seeing and the fact that he is white. Since then our friendship has changed. We have been best friends for over 20 years and often talked on the phone two to three times a day. Since I told her about my new relationship, we barely talk once a week. And when we do, I am usually the one to call and our conversation has been strained. I don’t want to lose my best friend, and cannot imagine my life without her. I can’t believe she is acting like this. I want to save the friendship, but at the same time, I do not want to end my new relationship. Things are getting pretty serious and I want to see where things go. What should I do?

Lansing Fire Department is still working at determining a cause for last nights apartment fire in the 3900 block of Burneway. Approximately 20 people were left homeless after the fire destroyed one unit severely, damaged another and caused damage to adjoining others. Some residents are being allowed to move back in today.
