This past weekend, two Sikh men, aged 78 and 65, were shot in broad daylight as they were walking down a street in Elk Grove, a suburb of Sacramento. The 65-year-old man died, while his friend was critically wounded. The assailant sped away in a light brown pickup.

A few months ago I signed up for a service called Shoe Dazzle.  It’s Kim Kardashian’s company that works kind of like a shoe-of-the-month club.  After taking a short fashion quiz, a virtual showroom is created for you that include both shoes and accessories.  The first week of every month new selections are placed in your showroom and you can decide whether or not to purchase anything or to abstain.  So far, I have yet to abstain.

One of the Kings of Comedy as he is affectionately known, Bernie Mac is heralded as one of the greatest comedians of all time.  While he was bringing in the laughs, many didn’t know he was battling the chronic disease sarcoidosis.  While his death in August 2008 at the age of 50 seemed untimely and he is sorely missed, his legacy lives on not only through the classic films, shows, and stand up routines, but also through his foundation, The Bernie Mac Foundation.
