Community Leader Kevin Brown Installed as Senior Pastor at Shiloah

 LANSING, MI — Pastor Kevin Brown was installed as the new pastor of Shiloah Missionary Baptist Church located at 5225 S. Waverly Road on September 8, 2018. In October of 2018, the church will celebrate 45 years of Christian service. 

 
Shiloah was founded in 1973  by Pastor Climmie M. and First Lady Leatha Hughes with the support of founding members; Sister Toni Hughes, Brother Earnest Rogers, Sister Nina Maffett, Brother Jonah Walker, Sister Marlie Walker, Brother Essie Davis, Brother John Williams, Sister Earnestine Williams, Sister Binna Gant and Sister Gerlin Davis.
 
On June 10, 2018, Pastor Kevin accepted the invitation to be the senior pastor of the church. 
Pastor Kevin is a resident of Lansing and a native of Detroit. He is a father of two -Shannelle and Kevin II and has two beautiful granddaughters Kai and Kendall. He graduated from Detroit’s prestigious Cass Technical High School where he studied Business Administration and Performing Arts. Standing at 6’6, he was an all-state basketball player and subsequently attended Northwood University on an athletic scholarship where he received degrees in Business Management and Advertising.  Recognized as a MVP player and earning numerous conference awards, Kevin was drafted to play professional basketball in Limerick, Ireland.
 
At an early age, Pastor Kevin was called to ministry at 10 years old under Bishop John B. Willis, Jr. of Christian Liberty Community Church of Detroit and is a licensed and ordained preacher of the Gospel. Kevin enjoys preaching, singing, and playing music for his church and he gives back to the Greater Lansing area by serving as a community pastor at the Advent House day shelter on Saturday’s and Sunday’s for nearly 5 years.
 
Bishop Willis was ordained as a minister of the Gospel on October 2, 1971 at the Christian Liberty Baptist Church.  He would become pastor of Christian Liberty Baptist Church after his father, the late Rev. J.B. Willis, Sr. retired from pastorate.  Bishop Willis brought to new fruition a new worship center; Christian Liberty Community Center of Detroit.  In 2003, he received ordination as a Bishop.  
 
Pastor Kevin majors in preaching the Word and minors in music. He writes and produces music and as leader of the Gospel singing group UNITY, he has written and produced over fifty original songs that are on CD and online today. 
 
Pastor Kevin is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., where he pledged and crossed through Delta Pi chapter at Michigan State University in May of 1985. He is an honorary Ombudsman for the Greater Lansing Area Club N.A.N.B.P.W.. 
 
He is currently the Community Affairs Coordinator at Fox 47 and has over 25 years of media experience. He has an electric personality and a track-record in effective leadership. He believes that the key to success begins with a relationship with God, a positive attitude, a committed spirit.
