Travel & Lodging 1-9

The New Citizens Press recently attended the Grand Opening of  East Lansing’s first Bed and Breakfast, The Wild Goose Inn.  It is located in the heart of East Lansing, MI at 512 Albert Street.  It is a stones throw away from Michigan State University and the Capital.   Spend the day sight-seeing, shopping or visiting the museum.

The inn offers unparalleled comfort and luxurious accommodations.  Every room in the house has been decorated to recreate the feeling of a particular season.  The seasonally themed suites named Spring Meadow, Summer Safari and Winter Eden all possess the most elegant surroundings.

Spring Meadow captures the season in bloom.  It has a Queen sized bed and a fireplace.  With its hand painted walls and boldly decorated  room,  you are sure to be in for a treat.

The Summer Safari room has an air of Florida or the Carribean.  A Queen sized “Hemingway” four-poster bed and a sofa allow you comfortable surroundings.  The jacuzzi tub in the bedroom and the fireplace add to the ambiance of the room.

The Winter Eden room is our personal favorite with its adjoining jacuzzi room with six skylights.  The Queen size sleigh bed and the fireplace are every bit as inviting as a cup of cocoa on a cold day or a  glass of lemonade on a hot day.

Only a few steps past the dining area, you will enter a charming private courtyard.  Sit at the table under the shade of the umbrella to relax in this cozy space. And for those who enjoy more sun, comfortable chairs await you on the front porch or you can peer out on your private porch
in your room.

When asked how he named the inn, Mr. Alan Bay, the proprietor, said that he felt as though he were on a “wild goose chase” while in the process of finding an appropriate name.

They say that geese are magical though.  We have heard of Mother Goose whose stories calmed children and adults alike.  We also know that geese mate for life and their faithfulness is only exemplified more by the fact that we know that we will see them return and leave each spring and fall.

It is great for parents who want to get away for
the weekend without going far or for the newlyweds who want to stay close to home for a honeymoon.  Experience the Wild Goose Inn and begin a migration towards experiencing new surroundings.  We have left out many  other special amenities that this establishment offers.  When you walk  up the staircase, pause and look to the ceiling and you will understand what we are speaking of.   Prices range from $120.00-$150.00 a night and include a hearty breakfast.  You won’t regret it.
