EAST LANSING, MI— A 31-year-old East Lansing man has been arraigned in 54-B District Court on multiple felony charges connected to an alleged incident at Michigan State University’s Wells Hall.
According to court records, Xin Tong faces charges of operating or maintaining a methamphetamine laboratory and malicious destruction of a building valued at more than $20,000.
Authorities allege that on April 26, Tong possessed chemicals and/or equipment intended for the manufacture of methamphetamine. He is also accused of intentionally damaging property inside Wells Hall between April 10 and April 26, resulting in destruction exceeding $20,000.
Bond was set at $500,000 cash/surety.
The case has been assigned to Judge Molly Hennessey Greenwalt. A pre-examination conference is scheduled for May 8, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., with a preliminary examination set for May 14, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.
The charges are allegations only. Under the law, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
