Dear Editor:
My son Ygnacio “Notch” Bermudez died on November 10, 2011. It was a senseless murder. Rick Strong, the accused, was recently arrested in North Carolina. I would like to thank the Lansing Police Department and any other law enforcement officers and departments involved in this case for his capture. Thank you for following up on all of the tips in this case.
My wife, Olivia, and I would also like to thank the people who attended the funeral and have supported my entire family in the past few months. All the support shows that my son had a big heart and people who loved him.
As a father and concerned citizen, people should become more involved with any effort to stop the violence. My wish is that the tragedy of the death of a loved one due to violence never happen to another family. This happening tears apart families and friends.
I also want to stress to everyone in the community, please allow Rick Strong to have a fair trial without any vengeance. Let the legal system work on our behalf.
