The Greater Lansing Homeless Resolution Network is working to end homelessness. On November 14, 2006 at 7:30 am at the Radisson Hotel, 111 North Grand Avenue in Lansing the official kick off of Ingham County’s 10 year plan occur. Breakfast will be provided. The event is free. LOCAL SORORITY SERVES UP A HEALTHY MEAL AND PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT BREAST CANCER
The Lansing Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. announced that on October 26, 2006 39 women participated in learning more about breast cancer for women of color. Dr. Surea Eaton, a member of the sorority and Chair of their Healthy Lifestyles Initiative introduced Dr. Margaret Aguwa, a professor at Michigan State University, to discuss the differences among ethnic groups and breast cancer’s affect on African American women. The event also included a healthy dinner prepared by chef, Briana Reamer. Current President, April Clark, indicated the funding for this very successful program was provided by a grant from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The Lansing Alumnae Chapter’s next meeting will be held November 12, 2006 at the Michigan Historical Library 705 Kalamazoo Street at 2:30 p.m. in the Lake Superior Room.
