Plain Talk 4-25

Have you ever found yourself wondering what if?  You know that little game that we sometimes play in our minds?  For those of you who have not played the ‘what if game’, I will explain it to you.

You may be sitting alone and having a pity party and feeling a little sorry for yourself.
You question yourself, “What if I had gone to college?  I bet that my life would be a lot better.”
You may have even asked yourself, “What if I had left the house a few minutes late? I would have never gotten into that terrible car accident, which left me without the use of my legs.”

“What if?”

I am going to pick with the guys for a minute, picture this, one day you meet a good-looking, sweet young lady.  I mean a ‘jewel’ in any man’s eye, she talks to you for a few minutes and you decide that you like her. But you don’t fully recognize that she’s a gem. You don’t take her seriously. You play games.
She on the other hand is just praying that God sends her a good man.  Now it’s clear that God has blessed you with this wonderful woman.  The question is what are you going to do with that blessing?
Well for the life of me, I don’t understand why you didn’t choose to take her seriously. It was clear that you were not ready for her. So she looked past you.
A few months later, another man comes along and he recognizes everything that you failed to see.  When he saw her, he listened, did not pass judgement and knew that he found himself a ‘jewel’.
He made his move and started dating her, married her and had children.
Now, you, who did not recognize your good fortune in the first place, still wants the ‘jewel’.  After you realized that you had a ‘diamond’ and not ‘cut glass’ now you have a change of heart.  Now you want her but…. it is too late.  You missed your blessing and you still have not found the one.  You oftentimes find yourself alone wondering, “What if?”
Sometimes I believe that we spend a lot of time in our lives trying not to make that one mistake that will change our lives for the worse.  It could be being in the wrong place at the wrong time and catching a bullet that was meant for someone else.
God gave us intuition, use it.
How  can anyone possibly know the future?  The future is unknown and that my friend is the way life is.  Sometime it is unfair.
Regardless, it is life and God gave it to you, so you should live it to its fullest.
We must learn to take the good with the bad.  Every day is not going to be bright and sunny.  A little rain must fall at some point in time.  Your part in all of this is to endure life until it comes to an end.  God wants us to keep our spirit up, no matter what happens in life.  He does not give you any more than you can bear.
I must caution you, however, you can not travel the road alone without God to direct you and give you peace.  You will need him for sure.
We must pray that God’s will be done in heaven and on earth.
God said that he is the Alpha and the Omega.  God is the beginning and the end.  I believe that to be true.  What about you?
Don’t let the “what ifs” stop you from living the “I wills.”
Remember to keep the faith, trust in God only and seek after a pure heart.  God will be pleased.
