Lansing Firefighter Allegedly Intentionally Run Down While Raising Funds for Charity

 At approximately 3:40 pm Lansing Police was summoned to the scene of Cedar and Jolly for a hit-and-run accident where a Lansing Firefighter had been struck. Officers were advised that the vehicle that struck the firefighter had fled the scene in a northbound direction.  With witness and 911 Center coordination, officers located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled and a chase ensued.  The vehicle and suspect ultimately stopped in the 3100 block of Lawdor in South Lansing. The driver fled, was pursued on foot by officers, and apprehended.  

 
Firefighters were participating in an annual fundraiser at this location when the incident occurred.  Other firefighters present, rendered immediate care to their comrade and transported him to an area hospital where he passed awat. The firefighter is 35 years of age and a nearly 7yr veteran.  
 
A 32 yr old Lansing man is in custody.  The Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office will be contacted tomorrow for charges.
