To The Editor:
I am a teenager who is an Iraqi, I was sent the e-mail below and I wanted to know if you would be brave enough to print it?
EVER WONDER?
Why a nun can be covered from head to toe and she’s respected for devoting herself to God, and when a Muslim woman does that, she is ‘oppressed’?
Why a Jew can grow a beard and he’s just practicing his faith, and when a Muslim does that, he is an extremist ?
When a western woman stays at home to take after the house and kids, she is sacrificing herself and doing good for the household; but when a Muslim woman does that she ‘needs to be liberated’?
Why is that when a child dedicates himself to a subject he has POTENTIAL and when a child dedicates himself to Islam, he is HOPELESS?
When a Christian or Jew kills someone, Religion is NOT mentioned,But when a Muslim is charged with a crime, It is Islam that goes to trial?
But then again, why is after all that, Islam is still the FASTEST GROWING RELIGION in the world?
Credit Given To Women Of Islam*
Sincerely,
A. Machi
Dear Ms. Machi,
In your e-mail you also wrote and said that you hope that the above does not offend anyone. I think that everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves. Everyone.
UPDATE: In our September 4, 2005 – September 17, 2005 edition, P. Vargas wrote about his concerns about Christian Family Fellowship Church buying the Spanish American style Alamo building at 719 E. Grand River.
City Council approved the land use permit. However, the pastor must sign a contract with the city which states they cannot oppose new liquor licenses in the area. They also cannot sell to another church or use it as a school. They must also maintain the large Central and South American culture mural.
