NEWSTREAM — West Coast rap veteran Mc Eiht plans to release his next album titled Underground Hero through his label 8Hype Records. The album will be distributed by D3 Entertainment and will hit the streets on July 2nd.
Known primarily for his work with Compton’s Most Wanted, MC Eiht began his solo career with the album All Music Guide calls “One of the best thug-life LPs.” We Come Strapped hit number one on the album charts and went gold.
Along with twelve other albums, MC Eiht has appeared on such best-selling motion picture soundtracks as Boyz N Tha Hood, Menace II Society, Tales From The Hood, New Jersey Drive, The Show and the successful WWF Compilation Album — Aggression. Not only did his soundtrack contributions raise his profile, it also garnered him success on screen as well. Eiht played a small role in John Singleton’s Academy Award-nominated film Boyz N Tha Hood and penned the film’s theme song, Growin’ Up In The Hood. For his portrayal of “A-Wax” in the Hughes Brothers critically acclaimed film Menace II Society, Eiht received an award for Best Acting Performance (Movie or Television) at the First Annual Source Magazine Awards. His song Streiht Up Menace became a major hit from that film’s platinum-selling soundtrack.
Underground Hero is Eiht’s most recent effort and features guest appearances by Mack 10, Outlawz, Yukmouth and Sticky Fingaz. Working on the album was a process Eiht was heavily involved in. “This album was really fun to work on. The studio atmosphere and just being back in the drivers seat with 8Hype Productions…all the homiez who came out to lend me some heat, I was feeling like we used to back in the old days.”
Underground Hero will be released on July 2nd, 2002.
