On Wednesday, August 27, a tragic shooting unfolded at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, MN, during an all-school Mass when a gunman opened fire, killing two children and injuring 17 others. Among those wounded were 14 students and three elderly adults. Authorities confirmed that all those who were hospitalized are expected to recover.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara told CNN that some of the injured children have already been discharged, with injuries ranging from minor grazes to life-threatening wounds. The victims who lost their lives were an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old child. Police reported that the suspect, who was carrying three firearms, died by suicide.
The shooter, now dead, was identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman. Westman shared a “manifesto” on social media that is being investigated, police said. Police reported that the suspect was carrying three firearms. The shooter graduated from the school in 2017.
