Meet Ashley LaMantia and her 2-year-old son Robert Anthony. In elementary school, she dreamed of being the first woman president. In middle school, it was a kindergarten teacher. By 16, Ashley LaMantia had dropped out of Canton High School, too busy partying to attend class. Today, at 24, she’s unemployed, feeding her 2-year-old son with food stamps and searching for a job that doesn’t call for a high school diploma.

On Sunday April 1, World Wrestling Entertainment presents WrestleMania 23; live from Ford Field in Detroit, Mi. At the event WWE Champion John Cena will defend his championship against Shawn Michaels. A three-time champion and former body builder, Cena is experienced, in shape, and ready for what many wrestling analysts say will be his biggest challenge to date. The Champ is still here, but first he has to stand up to our interview questions.
Children who are the kinship program experience emotions that are difficult to express to others; however, the magic of poetry allows them to shape emotions into verses and unlock the multitude of internal doors. Poetry provides the key to others, who need to understanding their daily lives. The poems in this edition are from poets from the Allen Neighborhood Center Kinship Support Group located at 1619 E. Kalamazoo Street.

Sunday, March 4, 2007. When I think about Robert Busby, I no longer feel as overwhelmed as I used to. I felt a sense of anger. Murder can make you feel that way.
I told my friend and Robert’s friend of 20 years, Suellen, that I was very angry. She told me to let go of the anger because there was not anything I could do about Robert’s murder.
